Flair's Sense of Fashion: May 2012

I have been sitting here thinking what should my first post be about? Then it hit me – I should write about my style inspiration. The one and only, none other than the fabulously stylish VB a.k.a Victoria Beckham (formerly known as Posh Spice). She has come a long way from her Spice Girls days. Her style has evolved over the years from the spoilt and bratty posh one to the very embodiment of simple and classy chic. To put it simply – I LOVE HER STYLE!!!

Ever since her move Stateside she has worked hard to prove herself and to be taken seriously in the fashion world. Whilst initially designing for other brands such as Rock and Republic, she finally launched her own fashion line which debuted at the prestigious New York Fashion Week 2008. It was not long before the fashion elite began to sit up and take notice and you know you have arrived when Oprah Winfrey (one of the most influential woman in the world) chooses to wear your design when accepting an award at Maria Shriver’s Women’s Conference 2010. Victoria has definitely made a name for herself in the fashion industry.

She has enjoyed steady success ever since then – something that eluded her when she was based in the UK – going on to win the much coveted “Designer of the Year” award at the British Fashion Awards in November 2011. Her designs features clean cut lines, are simple and effortlessly chic. She understands what a woman should look like and is a throwback to the days of old Hollywood glamour ala Audrey Hepburn.

Any designers worth their bread know that one of the most important fashion event is the Oscars and its many post-Oscar parties. The spotlight is equally on the dresses as it is on the stars. Everyone is dying to know who is wearing what. At this year’s Oscar, one of Hollywood’s top A-lister, the ever stylish Cameron Diaz, chose to wear a VB dress to the Vanity Fair post-Oscar bash. Cameron certainly stood out in her bright orange VB dress which features VB's signature exposed zip all the way down the back.

Taking stock of her achievements, I can’t help but wonder - ‘Is there anything that this woman can’t do?’ She is a wife to THE best looking footballer in the world, mother to 4 gorgeous children, has had a pretty successful singing career and occasionally takes to the catwalk to model for some of the most famous designers. And of late, she has added another feather to her cap – that of an accomplished designer. Some may say that she has it all. I certainly think so!
